So I work at a daycare, which I've said many time in class.. but is it wrong for me to want to sit all these kids down in front of a tv playing disney and just let them watch that for an hour or two? I work with the two year olds and our ratio is 10:1.. that is 10 two year olds to 1 teacher. I'm sorry but have you ever been in a 15x11 room with 10 two year olds?? If not let me just tell you how it goes on most days.. "Teacher Lisa my mommy is coming to pick me up" "Teacher Lisa I have a boo boo on my foot." Teacher Lisa I pooped" "Teacher Lisa I need to go potty" "Teacher Lisa she bit me" "Teacher Lisa can I play with your hair"..
As much as I've just complained about my job, I wouldn't want to spend my days any other way right now. Sure it can get a little hectic and crazy and sometimes you just want to look at them and say shut your mouths.. but at the end of the day I have fun with these kids. I'm sad when they move up out of my room. I love interacting with them and teaching them new things. Best thing about this job is that every day is different. Sometimes you could have a really mellow and chill day and the kids will play quietly and listen and no major injuries are endured. Other days your sending home six different notes because Little Johnny bit everyone in the class and then someone punched him in the nose. It can get really crazy sometimes but those are probably the best because it makes your job fun. My favorite part of the day is when I first get into the room to put my things down and the kids light up so much and just want to tell you everything they've been doing because they are so excited to see you. That is what I look forward to everyday.
If I was in a 15x11 room with 10 2 year olds, I probably wouldn't mind. I always have had a thing for kids, I love being around them, especially little kids because you can goof off around them and they'll just laugh themselves forever. If I wanted to, I could go into teaching, if I had to be a teacher, I probably would go into teaching high school history, because in high school, I had a serious interest in history, and we all ahd to take these aptitude tests or something, and my suggested careers were art careers, teaching, museum curator, park ranger(because of my love for nature). Those were my suggested jobs. But childcare I would love because you can goof off around them and they just laugh, they eat it up!
ReplyDeleteI have 10 nieces and nephews now, the oldest is 5, and the youngest is a week old, and even though I wasnt watching them alone, it got pretty crazy! So I put a movie on for them all to calm down, and it does work pretty well! I dont see anything wrong with a couple hrs of tv a day, as long as they do other stuff that day than just sit around and watch tv the whole day.
